Nordstrom Anniversary Picks from a Former Employee Part 2
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
With less than a week for icon members to shop, I finished up picking out my favorite items from the sale!! For the last three years, I have worked Anniversary as a sales woman and while I won’t be on the floor selling, I will be shopping the sale at home! For Nordstrom cardholders, the sale starts as early as August 4th. Depending on your card level (mine is Influencer level so I’m shopping the 10th!), you can shop up to a week before the public sale starts! For non-card holders, the sale is open August 19th so you have plenty of time to window shop. Now, let’s get into my picks!
Lingerie
Last year, I was actually a lingerie salesperson! I was fit certified for bras and everything. I absolutely loved it! Below are some of my favorite lingerie finds for the upcoming season.
One of my all time favorite panties are these by Chantelle!! They are one size fits all and come in plus sizes too. Oh, and they feel like a literal dream with the fabric. The material is so breathable and I buy at least 3 pairs every year at the sale, they are just that good. Now, I would recommend being careful with them in the wash because they are delicate, but honestly they are my favorite undergarments that I will surely be repurchasing in a few weeks.
One of my all time favorite bras is the Red Carpet strapless bra by Wacoal! This piece fits so many bodies like a dream and if anyone came in needing a strapless bra, this is what I would fit them in. It’s both structurally sound and comfortable for any occasion. To be safe when ordering, remember this bra is supposed to be fitted so look for a tight band. When going down in band size, go up in cup size and vice versa. With this in mind, the bra is definitely going in my cart this year!
I am a big comfort gal and this bra is perfect for feeling great in a bra! With more of our lives staying home, now is the time to invest in something comfy. Not only does this bra just feel great on, but it’s so comfortable and works great under any top. I personally love the v-neck style because you can truly wear it with everything. It also comes in a variety of colors and would be a great stay at home essential!
Another one of my lingerie favorites is this pair of no show socks. I am a pretty big sneaker head and I hate when you can see socks popping out of my shoes. With fall fast approaching, sneakers are going to be a style go to for me and these socks are the perfect way to keep my feet and shoes smelling fresh. Plus, you can’t go wrong with the neutral colors!
Knitwear
Ah yes, sweater weather. One of my favorite parts of the fall and winter!! This year, I am aiming to try more cardigans and wear more sweaters in creative ways (as opposed to just wearing sweaters and leggings). Let’s dive in to some of my finds!
I am the biggest sucker for a black sweater! I love this option from Treasure and Bond; not only for the design but the brand actually gives back to local charities with every purchase! Nothing beats a sale AND feel good shopping.
This fall, I am hoping to be a pumpkin! I am loving rich orange colors and I’m a sucker for any chunky knit. I also just love Free People, their quality is so good and their pieces last forever. I am definitely adding this to my list!!
Of course I had to add another Free People option! I absolutely love this piece, the black and white stripes are too good. This will be a great addition to any simple fall wardrobe, just add it with jeans and any kind of bootie and you are set!
As I mentioned before, I am really looking into cardigans and cozy knits! I think this cropped option fits the bill; its a great neutral color and can be warn open or closed. I would easily wear this with a graphic tee or bodysuit and some simple denim for a fall day!
Another cardigan I am really loving is this chunky Topshop option! I think Topshop is my all time favorite brand at Nordstrom, I have so many of their jeans and tops! I’m really loving this thick knit for fall, it comes in a few colors and would be cute with dresses or jeans. I also love the oversized sleeves, they look so cozy!
I am always drawn to plain sweaters like this one, I think they go with such a variety of outfits. I especially love how thick this particular sweater is, it’s ideal for a chill fall day with skinny jeans and a fun bootie. It would also look amazing under an oversized denim jacket!
Active
Each year I always pick up lounge/workout pieces from Active. For years now, that usually includes a pair of Zella leggings and some sort of sweatshirt. You really can’t go wrong with comfy pieces!
One of my favorite lounge and active brands is Zella! They are a Nordstrom-owned brand and so comfortable. Plus, they are super affordable for the quality, it’s incredible! I’m really loving the ribbed material and this color, it’ll be cute in both the gym and out running errands!
I WISH I KNEW THESE WENT ON SALE!!! I absolutely love these joggers, they fit me so well and I wear them all the time. I got my pair a few years ago and they have lasted so well since I bought them. They are high waisted and super comfy, the perfect lounge piece in my opinion!
Another one of my all time favorite active pieces is this jacket!! I also got this years ago and still wear it all the time. For golf especially, I love wearing this zip up because it’s insanely comfortable and flattering. It’s perfectly fitted and the ideal extra layer for any activity (even running errands)!
My most beloved inexpensive leggings are the Zella live ins! I have two or three pairs at this point, they are that good. When purchasing, I recommend sizing down to keep them from rolling in the waist. Trust me you are going to want them fitting perfectly because they will be on your body all the time!
Another active brand I really love is Alo! I have one of their tanks which is a little pricey but honestly worth it. I am loving this sweatshirt especially, this color is so fun and something different for the upcoming season! As much as I love a season appropriate color, the blue is just too good.
Shoes
Fun fact, Nordstrom actually began as a shoe store in Seattle back in 1901!! Let’s get back to their roots and look at one of my favorite categories, SHOES!
I totally need these boots!! I love this brown/tan color and the block heel, it’s going to be so comfortable and fun for fall! I also love the cut outs, they remind me of my favorite Jeffrey Campbell that are V pricey. Steve Madden is truly one of my all time favorite shoe designers and I definitely will be needing this pair!
Truly one of the greatest items I’ve ever picked up from the sale were my over the knee boots. I find them to be a fall staple, especially in black! They look so good with shorts, skirts, and dresses as temperatures start to dip. Plus, they last forever and never go out of style!
This summer, Instagram has been LOVING my snakeskin booties and this pair is nearly identical! I love the studs and the print is too good. I personally like to wear these with flare jeans or denim shorts, they are the perfect western detail! Plus this pair looks super comfortable and easy for daily use.
This year, I have been meaning to buy some mules and this pair may be the ones for me! I love the tan suede, it’s classy yet easily styled with boyfriend jeans and a tee. I also like the open back, it looks perfect for busy days when you barely have time for a shoe!
This year I have had a resurgence in my love of superstars!! I especially love my all white pair, they look perfect with dresses or leggings. Essentially I am addicted to white sneakers and this is one of my go-to’s for 2020. You really can’t go wrong with them!
Accessories
Now that we have the wardrobe complete, let’s look at the final touches that make an outfit truly unique! I am all about individuality and investing in pieces that will be worn year after year.
Lately I have really loved crossbody bags like this one. I purchased a Kate Spade bag during the sale a few years back and absolutely hated what I got. Tory Burch on the other hand is so classic and the black and gold is truly one of my all time favorite color combinations. I’ve been wearing it since high school and never plan on stopping!
Another item that would be fun for fall is this cream crossbody bag! Again I went with gold hardware because it’s more my style and honestly so beautiful for fall. I’m a sucker for anything classic like this bag, it’ll elevate any outfit and would honestly soften my all black wardrobe!
One of my new favorite accessories has been hats! I am really living for this brown option for fall, I think it’ll be adorable for autumnal activities. Plus, they are great when you don’t want your unwashed hair to be visible! They truly add a little extra style to an outfit that to me is insanely fun!
For almost a decade now, I have been a Ray-bans girl. I got my first pair the summer after 8th grade and still wear them often to this day! Granted, they are fairly expensive but with the sale, they are much more affordable. I really love this particular pair for fall, the gold frames are gorgeous and the round style is my current favorite!
Jewelry
Since starting my blog and Instagram account, I have learned the value of accessorizing and adding jewelry to an outfit! I am personally a gold person and dainty pieces are my go to. Let’s look further at some of the cute pieces on the sale that fit this description!
Lately I have been loving delicate and dainty necklaces like this one. I like how it has initials and can go with so many outfits. It’s also a great length for layering with other necklaces. Nothing beats a jewelry party on your neck!
Another great necklacr option is this chain necklace! Link chokers especially are all the rage right now and I like the small detail of the larger link in the center. It’ll again go with so many other necklaces and look especially cute with a band tee!
Continuing with the link trend, I find these hoops to be so cool! The texture would look great with any updo and the yellow gold will pair perfectly with any fall outfit. I also like how they are smaller, I find small hoops to work best with masks! Overall, a big fan of these cool earrings.
Another earring style I’ve been loving this year are these sparkly hoops!! I absolutely love the rose gold and the bit of sparkle. I think for any holiday festivities this pair will be the perfect amount of shine! Definitely going to need this pair!
Beauty
While I may not be the biggest makeup junkie, I do love some of the products on sale!! I try to stock up for the year as best I can in this department and these multipacks are just too good!
I can’t get enough of Living Proof!! I loveeee their dry shampoo the most, and their conditioner is quite good too! This set of 3 is honestly such a steal and a great investment for the entire year!
Full transparency, not a day goes by that I don’t spray this on my face. I LIVE for this setting spray, it truly stays on your face all day (and night). Sometimes when I forget to take my makeup off, I wake up the next day looking just fine because the spray did that good a job. I also love the jumbo size, it lasts FOREVER even with daily use!
Another one of my all time faves is the Laura Mercier translucent powder! This setting powder is so good and truly keeps my foundation in place. I usually bake with it and dust my face before adding bronzer and highlight. It’s another one of those products that I reach for time and again, you really can’t go wrong!
Growing up, I have always used Clinique. It was my mom and grandma’s favorite brand, and I honestly still reach for it often too! I am absolutely in love with the newer moisture surge collection, the texture is unreal! I have the hydrator that I use almost like a mask at night to keep my skin soft and moisturized. It’s one of those items that truly makes me feel luxurious without breaking the bank!
