My first Watershed Festival Experience

The Watershed Music Festival

Boy oh boy did I have quite the ending to my July! This year, I went with my roommates to the Watershed Music Festival at the Gorge in George, Washington (yes that is actually the name)! We camped and sang our hearts out to some incredible country artists. Now, I’m not typically this much of a country girl but it was fun to cosplay and celebrate my best friends birthday in a new place. If you’re curious about the festival and experience, keep reading!

Night One

I’ll be honest, we had a rough start to Watershed. We arrived a little before 9 pm after working all day and driving after our shifts. At first, we had made great time and we really thought we were going to get in quick, set up camp, then head to Lake Chelan. Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan!! The place was quite unorganized and we ended up sitting in a line, cars off for 3 hours. After getting to hour three, my roommates complained and we were moved to another line that once again sat idle. Around 30 minutes after that, we ended up watching our original line move and we just had enough. We ended up leaving and heading to lake Chelan where we just headed straight to bed and hoped for a better next day.

Day One

During the first day, we ended up waking early and actually getting a campsite. We set everything up and hung out for awhile. It was SO hot and I ended up taking a cat nap but it was much needed to get us through the first concerts. We saw Russel Dickerson live who was SO incredible and we just lived our best lives. I also got an incredible burrito afterwards as well as dole whip. We also left early that day to head to Chelan and get a good nights sleep. Totally worth it!

As an aside though, there was some drama getting in and out of the venue. Apparently my besties ticket wasn’t working and we had to meet with the ticket people several times. The scanning machines wouldn’t let her in and when we checked out to leave, MY ticket wasn’t working. It was a whole situation and incredibly frustrating. We also were spoken down to for a bit because the lady thought we didn’t know how to use our tickets but there was something off with the system. When going to Watershed, be careful with tickets!!

Day Two

We began our second day at Lake Chelan amidst a bunch of smoke. Unfortunately, Eastern Washington was on fire at this time and the air quality was horrendous. I had a tough time breathing in all honesty but I felt a tad bit better when I was on the water. At the lake, I wore my new cow bikini and was totally obsessed. The print was perfect for a country festival and I just had a blast hanging with the girls.

After we sat in the water, we got ready and headed back to camp. We ended up meeting some friends from our area and hung out with them all night. We also saw Billy Currington and Dierks Bently!! They were all incredible and we even got to mosh pit. It felt like old times and was so special ❤️

Day Three

After a night of camping in the rain, which was a bit rough because the wind kept knocking the “window” in on me, we made it to our final day at Watershed. I’ll be honest I was a bad blogger that day and didn’t get an OOTD. I tried several outfits and finally settled on a tank and shorts once more. This night though was super special because it was Amanda’s birthday and we saw John Pardi and Thomas Rhett. They were absolutely incredible and I’ll be honest I cried a little bit. It was the perfect way to end the weekend and while I doubt I’ll go again, I’m so happy to have gone at all.

Once the concerts ended that night, we packed up and drove back late to Tacoma. Overall it was such a fun and different experience for me even though it started with some mishaps. If you find yourself going, just be sure to bring plenty of water and a good attitude. It was totally different from anything my city heart was used to but I truly had a fun time.

Until next time,

Lauren
