Top 3 Coffee Shops for Matcha in Spokane WA
3 Coffee Shops with the Best Matcha in Spokane, WA
I have lived in Spokane, WA off and on for the last 9 years and consistently for almost 3 years! One of my favorite aspects of this city is its coffee culture because we have so many cute shops. Lately though I’ve been trying to get away from drinking a ton of coffee and I’m having more matcha especially in the afternoon! If you’re a matcha girl and curious where to get a good drink in Spokane, this blog post is for you!
1: Indaba
Try at my favorite location 518 W Riverside Ave, Spokane, WA 99201!
One of my favorite coffee shops of all time in Spokane is Indaba! With multiple locations around the city, this roasters is known for their delicious coffee but they also do a lovely matcha. As I mentioned before, I try to get matcha during my afternoon meetings so I’m consuming less caffeine each day. I have noticed a big difference in my sleep habits and I also am becoming quite the matcha aficionado! I personally love an oat milk matcha and at Indaba, alternate milks are not an additional fee. Instead they are part of the typical price of the drink which gets extra points from me! I also enjoy the different syrups and add ins they do. Lately I’ve been loving their strawberry matcha since it’s summer. It adds a nice sweetness and fruity element that you don’t get with a typical matcha.
PS: I cannot recommend their downtown location enough. I have gone for years now (even before I moved back) and you will always run into someone. It’s my go to for business meetings as well as coworking. I promise you nothing beats an afternoon on your laptop at a coffee shop!
2: Maple Street Bistro
Try at 5520 N Maple St, Spokane, WA 99205
Another coffee shop I’ve been loving lately is Maple Street Bistro! I’ve been coming here for years to meet up with friends and work. They have the best baked goods and their matcha is also delightful. I think they do a great classic matcha that is refreshing, easy to drink and well combined. Sometimes the tea can separate from the milk and it’s a whole mess but not here! I also have gotten to know their sweet owner Betty pretty well and I love supporting a woman owned business. Nothing beats a treat and a matcha whether you’re going alone or catching up with a friend.
PS: this is another great place to yap with a friend for awhile or you can get their food/drinks to go! Not only do they have a great indoor space they also have a cute outdoor patio as well as a drive thru line!
3: Thomas Hammer
Try at my favorite location 3173 S Grand Blvd, Spokane, WA 99203!
Another one of my all time favorite coffee shops in Spokane is Thomas Hammer. They had one on the Gonzaga campus when I was in undergrad and I always found myself stopping by between classes. Back then, I would get a fizz with the works (which still slaps by the way you can always catch me snagging one in the morning or on a road trip) but now I find myself grabbing more matcha drinks! While they are a little pricier than a fizz, they are still quite delicious. Again they are fresh, creamy and the Thomas Hammer touch is real. I love this spot for meetings, coworking with my assistant and catching up with friends! They also offer an array of alternate milks plus a variety of syrups to brighten up your drink!
Bonus: Ladder Coffee
I want to share an honorable mention for Ladder Coffee. I recently tried their lavender matcha and WOW! It was so floral, so refreshing for summer and a little different from the traditional matcha. I will say it did settle a bit at the bottom which I haven’t experienced as much at some other spots but I would still recommend this drink if you enjoy matcha and a healthier alternative to coffee!
Happy Sipping!
