3 Midsize Approved Halloween Costumes
Halloween Costume Inspiration: Midsize Edition
3 Costumes i wore this halloween
One of my favorite holidays each year is Halloween! I am always keen on an opportunity to dress up, look my best and have a fun night out. This year I went a little crazy and did 2 outings. I had 2 fun legitimate costumes plus a third bonus look I wore the day before Halloween to a networking event. Everything is midsize girl approved, budget friendly and some is even rented or secondhand! You don’t need to break the bank to look good and have fun.

Dress is a Nuuly rental!
My first outfit was for a creatives event in my city and I ended up wearing it most of the day. I originally got it for a photo idea from Nuuly where I could dress up ahead of a girls night out. I didn’t even put two and two together until I checked the invitation to the event and threw on this fun dress. I will say if you’re tall you may want to size up a few sizes or if you’re petite you should be set.
To make the outfit a bit more interesting, I added some leather accessories including a thrifted leather jacket and some of my favorite boots from a few years ago. I love bold outfits like this that feel a little rock and roll while also just looking fun!
2. strega nona
My first true costume was a blast from the past, Strega Nona! I grew up loving that book and my family even met Tommy De Paola when I was a child. Why that is a core memory I will never understand. Nonetheless I read that book to elementary kiddos each year and when I saw a grown up version of our favorite Witch Grandma I had to do it.
To create the look, I thrifted a knit tank from one of my favorite spots Plato’s Closet! I love the North Spokane location and go about once a month to refresh my closet and donate pieces I don’t wear anymore. This top was also on super sale which is a bonus! Alongside this top I wore an Amazon skirt, boot and head scarf to give the granny vibes. To take it all over the top I got a tiny pot to carry around and it was a huge hit! Definitely a niche find but a fun one nonetheless.
3. Bed bugs
My final costume was the look I was most excited for, the bed bug! I absolutely love how this one turned out from the satiny dress to the little antennae. I think a simple yet sexy costume is the way to go, especially in your late 20s as a single gal.
To create this look, I just got the headband off Amazon. I also added a dress from Nuuly and a coat from the same place. The simplicity of this outfit is what makes it work so well and as an added bonus, my friend and I brought out post it notes to the bar and gave out “bug bites” to guys we wanted to talk to! It was cheeky, it was memorable and made for a fun side quest which is something I want to do more of.
happy halloween
I hope this blog was helpful for your next outing! As a midsize gal I am realizing comfortable outfits that allow me to move and breathe have made me feel the most confident. I am loving more simplistic outfits that just need one or two accessories to really make the look. Halloween solo doesn’t have to be overdone!
Until next time,
Lauren
