4 Midsize Friendly Fashion tips for Winter

Midsize friendly Winter Fashion Tips

Wintertime is officially here and it can be challenging dressing a midsize body! As we layer up it can lead to a lot of bulkiness and just feeling “meh” all around. To combat this issue, I came up with my top 4 tips to feeling your best in your clothes while also staying warm. For the tips and some outfit examples, keep on reading!

One: wear lightweight layers

Something I didn’t think to do prior to moving to a cold climate is bundling up with lightweight layers. Think of a thin turtleneck under a sweater or a catsuit under jeans and a coat. By wearing these thinner layers your person can stay rather warm but you aren’t adding a lot of bulk to your outfit. I know for my fellow midsize girls sometimes the belly can be an issue so if you find a lightweight piece that is also slightly compressing on the stomach that is just a double win!

Two: Find Tummy Skimming Pieces

Next up is finding belly skimming tops and even tummy controlled bottoms. Over the last few years I’ve been enjoying tunic sweaters that go rather long and they pair perfectly with high waisted leggings. For the perfect pair of pants give the Spanx faux leather leggings a try. I’ve found them to be incredibly versatile and they are very midsize friendly. Although they are a bit of an investment, they are something you’ll reach for year after year! You really can’t beat a wardrobe staple like that

Three: Finds Coats with a Flare

One style of garment that I was not anticipating on loving so much this year has been the fit and flare coat. I found this blanket version from Abercrombie and I find it to be incredibly flattering! The flare distracts from any problem areas and it just feels comfortable to wear.

Pro tip: To give yourself even more shape, I recommend tying the belt behind your back. It helps to add to the flare shape and it keeps the belt ends from getting dirty easily.

Four: Bulk Up Under Accessories

Finally if you need some thick layers, try wearing them as accessories! I really am enjoying blanket scarves this season and warm, single fold beanies. You could also try earmuffs depending on where you live, they add a nice volume to an outfit while keeping you warm. I think at times we forget the power of an accessory because they can be something we just throw on. Let this be your reminder to have fun with your style and while your top or bottom may be simple, the entire outfit does not have to be boring!

Stay Warm and Chic

I hope this post helps you stay inspired in the cold weather! It can be difficult to dress well when its dark and gloomy all the time and in a midsize body it can feel even more challenging! Do not fret though, the more you practice and play around with your wardrobe the more fun it becomes! Plus, for more up to date content be sure to follow me on Instagram and TikTok.
