Scandinavian Inspired Winter Outfits

Mid January Outfits of the Week

This past week was a bit more challenging than I anticipated because I went through a breakup at the start of the week. While I tried to dress up and look presentable as much as possible, some days I failed and that is just a part of the healing process. If you’ve been experiencing something similar I hope this post reminds you to allow yourself to grieve and choose comfy fashion over dressy outfits. Your mental health comes first and the fun of styling comes second!

Casual Errands Outfit

The morning of the breakup was rather stylish I would say since I wore my favorite green coat over some sportier elements. My favorite outfit right now is neutral basics like jeans and a simple top paired with a slim sneaker and loose coat. If you haven’t jumped on the oversized outerwear train, you are missing out. They elevate a look so much and take the most basic of outfits to unique street style energy. Plus these outfits just get a bunch of compliments and you’re going to feel great!

Grief Outfit

On the day following the breakup I knew I had to be comfortable and choose relaxing over everything else. Hence the super simple black tank from Lululemon and my new favorite sweatpants from Abercrombie. If you haven’t tried Abercrombies new YPB line, you are missing out. The pieces are fantastic quality and they are great for a very casual day. All black was certainly the vibe and made the sadness a little bit easier to process.

Boyfriend Jeans Outfit

As the week went on, it was time to play around with my wardrobe once more. This time I wanted to break out my favorite boyfriend jeans and make them cozy with a white sweater. I really enjoy outfits like this because the super casual pant always contrasts nicely with a classy sweater. To tie in the look I added my favorite lug boots and the same coat as before. If you don’t have a statement outer piece, this is your sign to pick one up!

Business Casual for Winter

By the end of the week it was time for meetings in the next city over! I decided to wear the same sweater as mentioned above but in another color with my favorite jeans and the same boots. I broke up the look though with a neutral coat this time since I did want to look like a young professional. If you’re allowed to wear denim at the office, I recommend elevating it with a classy boot and a modest knit. Anything you can do to elevate the more casual piece will always be a good decision!

Coffee Chat Outfit

I ended the week once more with that darn coat! I made it far more casual though with a baseball cap and a chunky sweater. This winter I’ve really been enjoying my all black hat, it makes any outfit more street style appropriate and gives me a far better hair day than if I did nothing to my mane. For even more cozy vibes since I did go to a coffee shop, I added my favorite chunky sweater and a distressed pair of jeans. Again that combination of ultra casual denim with a nice sweater just makes for an interesting outfit that feels fresh!
