5 Secrets to Online Shopping

Online Shopping Hacks

I’m going to come right out and say it, I have an online shopping problem. I have always loved clothing and my brain just works in outfits. I spend a great deal of time coming up with outfits in my head and I am constantly on the look out for great pieces at great prices. Plus, I’ve spent THREE summers working at Nordstrom as a saleswoman. Throughout my time in retail, I have learned how to not only shop for others, but find the best things for myself 😏

One: Make a list

Okay okay, hear me out on this one. I am a big list person. I love them for the grocery store and I really like to use them for clothing!! Over the course of a week, I tend to dream up different outfits that I want to wear/share and if I need a particular item, I’ll add it to my list. I also add pieces I find from social media or in real life when I can shop in person. By keeping a list, I am less likely to just buy random clothes I see on sale or on a website. Not gonna lie, I’m not the best at sticking to the list, but it is a great way to know what your wardrobe may be missing. Plus, if you are a budgeter, this is a great way to moderate the spending and keep the impulse buys at a minimum.

Two: Follow Stores Online

The BEST way to find deals and unique pieces is to follow your favorite shops online!! I follow everyone from Nordstrom to local boutiques. When I check out their social media, I tend to find sales and promotions that are unavailable on the website. This allows me to save while also knowing what might be available on the actual website. I’ve even found some pieces that were not available online through Instagram! If you are a fashion blogger and interact with boutiques often enough, you may also end up collaborating 😍

Three: Shop at Various Stores

I will be completely transparent, I do a TON of online shopping and I do so at different stores! In the pictures above, everything I’m wearing is from several different stores. Just like you would head to various shops in a mall, check out different retailers for different items. The places I shop the most at are Nordstrom and Amazon. For a vast majority of my pieces though, I try to shop at places like Asos, Abercrombie, Forever 21, and American Eagle. This allows me to buy exactly what I have in mind. I’ve also been able to find dupes for certain items at stores I don’t normally shop, saving me money and adding variety to my wardrobe.

Four: Head Directly to Search

There is nothing more important to an online shopping trip than physically searching for what you need. I tend to make a beeline toward the search bar and find exact items that I am picturing. This keeps you from broadly searching and potentially buying things you don’t need. Plus, refined searches give you more of the items you want! If you aren’t quite finding your dream piece, definitely click on the item and there is usually a “similar item” section that should lead you to your perfect product.

Five: Download Coupons

Around a year ago, I downloaded Honey (not sponsored) and oh my word what a game changer that has been. This extension scans available coupons and has found me some sick deals. There are also sites that provide rebates and other deals that make shopping a little easier. I personally like them because I like to shop and the more I can get at a low price, the better!! Nicest part of these extensions? They are free 🤑

Well, I hope this helps!! I can’t get enough of online shopping, it’s such a fun escape and I love playing with the new clothes I get! While it can be risky to get clothes over the internet, I tend to just buy items I know would fit like oversized tees and dresses. Although I do have to make some returns, the pros outweigh the cons and I’m just hooked on online shopping!

Best,

Lauren
