The other day, I was chatting with my blogger friend Kathryn of Heart of Hudson about capsule wardrobes. She is a plus size queen and since fashion is fashion, I decided to help her online shop! I sent her a bunch of links to closet essentials that I think every woman needs. First, we shall discuss what a capsule wardrobe is and then we will look into some of my top picks!

What is a Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is around 30 pieces of clothing someone can mix and match. This includes tops, bottoms, jackets and shoes. Oftentimes, people switch some pieces out for a particular season but overall there is consistency throughout the year For most, this wardrobe is filled with higher quality items that easily pair together. This can be due to a particular color palette or style of clothing.
If you are considering making a capsule wardrobe of your own, I recommend coming up with your personal style and creating a mood board! This will help you decide your aesthetic and help you decide which direction your wardrobe should take. I also recommend going through your current wardrobe and look for holes. When Kathryn and I did this, we found her closet lacking jeans, nice shoes, dresses, and jackets. Once you figure out what you need, the shopping can commence!

Buying a Capsule Wardrobe
Now it is time to go forth and shop! I found some amazing plus friendly pieces and most are also straight sizes!! As a standard sized woman, I was pleased to see more size inclusivity from my favorite stores. I recommend looking at Boohoo, Asos, Nordstrom (who is notorious for their inclusivity) and Target! At the end of the day, you don’t need to break the bank for a great wardrobe. If you try any of this out, feel free to tag me!
