Western Inspired Spring Outfits of the Week
Midsize Friendly Spring Outfit Ideas
This week was a special week for me, it was my first ever fashion week! I had the honor of working with CDA fashion week which included two shows and a modeling boot camp. As a midsize creator I feel so honored to join in the experience and be immersed in my favorite thing ever, fashion. Alongside my events I had some other fun activities during the week and really pushed my personal style. To see what I wore and to learn more, keep reading!
Casual Gym Outfit
I started off the week in an unusual way for me, with a trip to the gym! I am not the best at working out consistently but I felt particularly motivated that day. To feel comfortable at the gym, I went with something fairly basic and simple. I started with a cropped ribbed black tank from Amazon. It has a small v-neck design that is so flattering on the front and looks great with high waisted running shorts. I personally love this pair from Abercrombie, they are lined and have pockets making them easy to take on a run or for running errands. To complete the look I threw on my favorite Free People jacket that adds some texture and color. You really can’t beat it!
Black Maxi Dress Outfit
Much later after the gym I had a birthday dinner for a dear friend and decided to wear my new Amazon maxi dress! I love the ribbed material and how comfortable it was all night long. It’s the perfect Skims lookalike for a fraction of the price and it really made me feel good. Since this was an evening activity I styled the dress with my favorite oversized crop jean jacket and my new platform sandals. I’ve had a similar pair for years and while they aren’t as trendy as they once were I still find them to be easy to walk in and elevate any basic springtime outfit. I also like how they are black, it went nicely with my black dress. Oftentimes I will always err on the side of simplicity in an outfit, you can never go wrong when you stick to staples!
Coastal Cowgirl
One of my favorite trends this year is the coastal cowgirl aesthetic. You combine beach-y favorites with western accessories and it creates such a fun outfit overall. I will always use a reason to wear my cowboy boots and while the weather hasn’t been spectacular in Spokane it didn’t stop me from throwing this look together. I ended up styling my favorite basic dad shorts form Abercrombie with an oversized sweater from Free People and my Amazon cowboy boots. If I were to wear this outfit again, I would instead go with a lighter-weighted knit because my sweater is a touch too thick. Remember, in this look you want to be beach ready and the focus should be on garments that you would wear in the sand. The weight and material of your garments are crucial to the overall aesthetic!
Denim Midi Skirt Outfit
One of my new favorite trends that has been a bit decisive this year is the denim midi skirt. Many creators have been called fundamentalist Christian in them and others are ridiculed if they aren’t a size two. I don’t think we need to gate keep trends for certain bodies and if you buy a skirt with a slit you should be good to go as a midsize or plus sized woman! I personally love mine from Amazon, it gets a ton of compliments in public and fits like a dream. To keep the western vibes going, I styled mine with black cowboy boots and a simple cropped long sleeve. This shirt is technically activewear but it’s basic enough to wear with regular pants and jackets. I love anything versatile like that and if you really want to lean into the country vibes, top the look off with a big western belt!
Tulle Mini Dress
Our final outfit from the week was the gorgeous tulle mini dress I wore for CDA fashion week. I had never been to Coeur D’Alene’s fashion week until this past weekend but it was an incredible trip and experience! I was VIP the whole weekend and outfitted by Marmalade clothing, one of the stores that walked the runway. For the first night in particular, I wanted to dress up and wear the cutest champagne colored mini dress. It has beautiful stain ribbons as sleeves and it hit me just above the knee. It’s also lined and quite comfortable to wear all night. Since I’ve been on a country kick I wore my favorite black cowboy boots once more and felt beautiful all night long. If you want to get crazy, style a dress like this with a black handbag or you could be like me and do something neutral like my favorite Gucci Marmont.
