Rutledge Sunflower Festival Photoshoot Guide
Best Photo Ideas for a Sunflower Festival
Earlier this week I went to the Rutledge Sunflower Festival located at 302 93rd Ave SE, Olympia, WA 98501. If you are from Olympia or the surrounding area, this is one place you really need to check out. While they’re known for their corn maze, their sunflowers were equally fabulous. To see the photos I took and to get some inspiration, keep reading!
Pose with the Props
My first tip is to play around with the props available at the field. I’m noticing more and more of these locations offering props and they are so fun to pose with. I am partial to the swings but there were so many options at Rutledge. If you go, definitely bring a friend so you can capture the best possible images. It really helped to have someone get my angles and scout the best prop for me!
Pose in the Fields
I don’t think you can go to a sunflower field and not get pictures with the flowers! This year, I wanted to get a bit more creative with my photos and tried taking more where I wasn’t looking at the camera. Oftentimes I am used to taking outfit pictures and not allowing myself to really get creative as a model but this is a great excuse to really have fun. Also if you feel self conscious, this is a great way to hide your face but still get fun content!
Pose with the Sunflowers
Finally you cannot go to a sunflower festival without getting some sunflowers to take home with you. At Rutledge, each person gets one flower so me and I bestie each got one. It also worked out great for my picture ideas which include the Sunflower Eyes and holding the bouquet out at the camera. Both are so fun and work great as Instagram posts or Pinterest ideas.
Have a fun Trip
I hope this posts inspires your next trip to a sunflower festival! This is now my second time going to one and they are great for content creators or families alike. There is something about being near the flowers that really makes my day and as a pro tip, bring a change of clothing if you go. I didn’t this time and I wish I captured some dress outfits. Otherwise I love how my farmer look turned out and overall it was the perfect end of summer shoot!
Until next time,
Lauren
