5 Inexpensive Activities to do in San Diego California
5 Budget Friendly Experiences in San Diego
Back in August I visited San Diego California for the first time and had a great time exploring the city. Fortunately I had a rental car which is a must-have in the city since it is rather spread out. With a car you gain access to a bunch of budget friendly activities in the area that you should not miss. If you are headed to San Diego anytime soon, keep reading!
One: Visit Balboa Park
Located at Balboa Park San Diego CA
I was absolutely enamored by Balboa Park, I have personally never been anywhere quite like it! Balboa Park is like a mini village, they have several fountains, gardens, and a plethora of museums. I personally toured the art museum which was a pretty penny but to wander the park itself was free. If possible, I would recommend bringing a picnic lunch to enjoy outside since they don’t have a ton of food options.
Two: Walk Through Point Loma
Located at 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Dr, San Diego, CA 92106
For any history buffs, this is a great adventure. I enjoyed learning about the lighthouse families as well as the overall history of the area. Pro tip if you do visit, be sure to drive in it was cheaper for my party of 4. I also recommend bringing walking shoes because there are a few trails in the area and the lighthouse has a plethora of steps to get up and down. Overall I loved the area and it was oddly peaceful!
Three: Coronado Beach
Located at Coronado, CA 92118
If you are a beach bum, this is a must-see! The water was nice and cool and the sand was perfect. If you go, be sure to bring some beach towels and park yourself outside for awhile. While the beach was fairly busy you could still carve an area out for yourself and watch the waves roll in. Honestly there is nothing better on a warm summer day!
Four: Explore Little Italy
Barbusa located at 1917 India St, San Diego, CA 92101
If there is any occasion for me to pretend like I am back in Italy, I will certainly take the opportunity. Little Italy gave me those exact vibes, I had so much fun wandering the blocks and reading the menus of the restaurants. I personally ate at Barbusa and had a fabulous experience. Our waiter was very much Italian and he served a delectable Aperol spritz. If you have not been to Europe, this is pretty darn close considering.
Five: Walk the Marina
Located in the Marina District San Diego
The hotel I stayed at for the duration of my trip was right on the marina so we walked the boardwalk nearly every night. It was a great way to get your steps in and there were a ton of cute shops and restaurants available. I had everything from seafood to nachos to jumbalaya, it was great! If you aren’t hungry, there was a decent amount of window shopping available. I personally did not get anything but if you are into souvenirs that would be a great place to pop by.
Safe Travels to San Diego
I hope this post helps inspire your next trip to San Diego! I am always trying to ball on a budget when on vacation. Plus, if you save on one trip you will have extra money for your next adventure.
