How to Pose at the Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch Poses

I am SO excited for October!! On Sunday I went to my first pumpkin patch of the season and I can’t wait to share the shots we took. While I was at the patch, I was asked several times by my friend how to actually pose while we shot. I recommended the following poses and reminded her to just let loose and have fun in front of the camera! The best photos occur when you are having fun and allowing for your personality to shine through. For bloggers, this also allows you to shoot for your personal brand and fully sell YOU. Now, keep reading to learn some pumpkin posing tips!

The Hay Ride

On the hay ride, I recommend a cross legged sitting down picture. The trickiest part of this shot is truly the background; it can be difficult at times to truly capture the farm aesthetic of your surroundings. To complete the image, just add a soft smile. It feels relaxed and pairs perfectly with the overall farming vibes!

Corn Maze

The most a-maize-ing part of the pumpkin patch is the corn maze!! While yes I did get lost a few times, I also captured some fun shots! For the corn, I recommend elongating yourself like the plants. A pointed toe like I did here is a great way to both showcase the outfit while also mimicking the length of the corn stalks. To complete the shot, be sure to stand partway into the field and voilà!

The best part of going to the pumpkin patch is by far going with friends!! I recommend asking someone nearby to take a quick photo to save the memories. When shooting with a friend, you can either stand next to each other smiling or sit and hold a pumpkin! I feel like the prop makes both parties more comfortable and you can get real creative and look down at your pumpkin as if it were a child.

Tractors or Trucks

What is better than a pickup truck filled with pumpkins?? Absolutely nothing thats what. I love posing near fun props like this, I think you can get real creative in these situations! I actually like how I am looking away from the pumpkins, it makes for a great juxtaposition. When shooting outside like this, I always recommend having a pair of sunglasses handy. They are an easy prop to play with and double as a great way to embellish an outfit!

In the Pumpkin Patch

Once you get to the actual patch, you can have so much fun with the pumpkins! I like to have a mix of close up and far away shots when shooting at a place like this. For close up images like this, I recommend another soft smile and allow for the details in your outfit to truly shine! While personality is always important to photographs, your actual pieces also deserve a moment to shine!

Another cool pose in the patch is a crouched down pose. This is what I would say is a more advanced pose but a fantastic option nonetheless. The key is to hold your balance on the bent leg and hold in the core. Honestly if a photoshoot isn’t wearing you out you are doing it wrong!!

Holding a Pumpkin

We saved the best for last!! I absolutely love pumpkin pictures and this one is just too good. I’m kind of a sucker for a tongue out moment although this photo would also work well if you looked down at the actual pumpkin. When posing with a pumpkin, it’s better to have the gourd relaxed on a hip to allow for maximum casual vibes!

Happy Pumpkin Picking

I hope these poses help you out!! I absolutely love the pumpkin patch and I can’t wait to share more fall content with you throughout the month of October. Remember when going to the patch, have fun and be casual with your images. Allow for your personality to shine through and move around. This leads to the absolute best photos!

Best,

Lauren
