Top 5 Midsize Loungewear Pieces
As a midsize fashion creator, I feel like there is an expectation to always dress nice for various occasions. I definitely put that pressure on myself for better or worse but I do enjoy some leisure garments for working from home or very casual days. When you are midsize, sometimes people think you look frumpy or lazy in lounge pieces but that doesn’t always have to be the case. Below I have my top 5 lounge pieces that could be styled in a plethora of ways!
Matching Knit Lounge Set
Starting off strong we have this matching lounge set from Amazon. I found the quality of these pieces to be incredibly nice and I ended up loving it more than I expected. It’s super soft and rather thick, something you don’t oftentimes get with Amazon knitwear. This set also just works because the top is slightly cropped and the bottoms are high waisted and wide. I enjoy sets like this because when the top is tucked, you can create an hourglass figure and with the material being so high quality, it’s easy to hide some insecurities compared to poor quality garments.
Jogger Sweatpants
My next lounge favorite teeters on activewear but I wear these either to sleep in or for errands. I think having a pair of high waisted lightweight joggers are always lovely to have in your lounge collection. They are easy to style both with fitted tops and baggy sweatshirts and they are just unbelievably comfortable. Lately I’ve been wearing mine with a fitted long sleeve crop top but you could style it with a big sweatshirt and sneakers if that is more your vibe.
Pro Tip: When midsize, look for bottoms with a thick waistband. It makes your stomach a bit less visible and for me adds some comfort to my own insecurities.
Oversized Hoodie
My next loungewear favorite is my oversized hoodies. I personally prefer the ones from Abercrombie because they are unisex which means my true size tends to be a bit oversized and I absolutely love that look. They also are incredibly versatile, pairing just as well with jeans as they do with leggings. When picking out a hoodie, I always go for something neutral to layer under my jackets and coats. I always find it to be a vibe and I don’t shy from layering as a midsize girl, where I live is too cold not to bundle up!
Flared Leggings
Let me put you on to my all time favorite fashion find, flared leggings or yoga pants. I’ve been wearing these off and on for over a decade now and for good reason; they are comfortable and pretty easy to style! I love how they are loose on the bottom while being fitted on top. You can easily style them with hoodies or baggy tees since the fitted top section provides a bit of shape to your body. The key to any good outfit is balance and not overwhelming your body with baggy garments.
Now, when it comes to shoes, I always opt for sneakers or booties. Something with a platform always works great but try to focus on close toed shoes not really sandals. That oftentimes leans too far back to the early 2010s and we want to keep the look modern!
Oversized Band Tees
Okay if I were to be known for anything in the fashion world I hope it’s for my love of band tees! I’ve been collecting graphics for years now, I find them to be so easy to style and such a fun wardrobe staple. Since I started working on Instagram, I have tested countless tees from places like Target and Nordstrom and the best shirts I’ve found are actually from Urban Outfitters. They have these huge tee shirt dresses that drape perfectly on the body and get softer each time you wear them. While they are a bit of a splurge compared to some other options, I believe they are well worth the money.
