Coastal Outfits for Midsize Women
Mid May Outfits of the Week
This past week was yet another treat! I went to Seabrook with my dear friends from my hometown and wore a bunch of coastal outfits perfect for the beach. As a midsize woman I know it can be challenging to layer and dress for various occasions. However the beach doesn’t have to be intimidating! Instead you want to be smart about how you layer and try some of the tricks I will be mentioning below. This will make you feel more confident in your outfits and give a bit of stylization which is always a vibe!
Matching Beach Set
Our first outfit is the cutest set ever from Target! I love how it’s blue and white with mixed patterns. I’ll be real, young Lauren would never wear something like this. It was totally out of my comfort zone but I’m really enjoying this look in my mid 20s. The key to making this set work is to tuck one side of the top into the pants. It provides a cohesive look from top to bottom alongside the crazy print.
Pro tip: When wearing long pants like this, add a chunky shoe! I’m a bit on the tall side at just under 5’8 and these pants still hit the ground on me. I’ve been loving this outfit with a platform clog, they feel beachy to me and keep my pants from dragging while I walk. It also elongates your silhouette overall because the pants are long and the platform also provides height.
Cream Shirt Dress Outfit
One thing I struggle with as an influencer and creative is wearing garments that may not be the trendiest piece anymore or the link is unavailable. It’s become so commonplace to shop for new garments each vacation or event but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case! I finally went through my old closet last week and brought home some old pieces and am definitely giving them a new life with my current accessories. In this example, I took the perfect shirt dress that is a few years old and updated it with purple heels. You could dress this down with a belt bag and sneakers too depending on the occasion! I wore this for a work photoshoot and it was the perfect garment.
Satin Midi Dress
As we headed into the weekend, it was time for a fancy dinner at the Melting Pot. I got this dress initially for an upcoming wedding but it won’t actually go with the wedding colors my friend has planned. Instead I just wore it out with my sister and felt like a million bucks. Since dinner was a 5 course experience, I needed something that would be comfortable to eat in. I found this dress to be perfect for the occasion, it moved with my body and fit my curves well for something fitted. Sometimes dresses like this can be tricky for us midsize gals but Abercrombie does a good job at catering to various body types and their new spring collection is a real winner for me!
Pink Workout Romper
Early on in the weekend, my sister and I decided to go on a hot girl walk in one of the Spokane neighborhoods. We stopped for a dirty soda and I wore my new active romper from OQQ Sports. I love how bold the color is and it’s ever so slightly shaping in the middle with the texture of the ribbing. It’s also just incredibly comfortable to wear and kept me cool in the heat. To elevate the outfit a bit, I styled it with a white button down and high top sneakers. I really like white and light neutrals with summer outfits. It keeps you cool, the top kept my skin protected from the sun and it gives a hint of coastal energy even when I’m in the big city. There is really nothing better!
All Black Going Out Outfit
Our final look of the week was this cute all black going out outfit for the bars. At the last minute my friends and I decided to hit the town so I wore this adorable strapless bodysuit with distressed denim shorts and my favorite black cowboy boots. I love how cool yet casual this look is because you are combining something elevated which is the pearl top with western denim and shoes. The reason why this all works though is the color is uniform throughout and you have something fitted with something loose. Oh, and a simple cowboy boot is always a good idea for going out. They’re surprisingly comfortable and this pair is pretty sleek which is such a bonus!
Have a Fashionable Week
I hope these outfits inspire your upcoming events! Whether you are traveling like me or off on a fancy date, I have you covered. Since it’s spring heading into summer, I also encourage having fun with your personal wardrobe and trying outfits you may not normally wear. Before this year I don’t think I would have worn some of these looks, especially the more colorful or Pinterest-esque options. Now, I am so happy in my midsize body and having so much fun with my style. This is my favorite time of year for fashion and I can’t wait to continue sharing! Until next time,
