Ultra Casual Outfits of the Week
I will be honest with everyone this past week was not at all what I was expecting. My goal was to share Lake Chelan party outfits but instead I have been resting and grieving my sweet, late grandfather. He passed away last Tuesday and my week was completely flipped upside down. I ended up wearing a lot of relaxed outfits and a travel outfit to get me home to my parents by the weekend. If you are experiencing loss or grief, I want you to know you aren’t alone in it. Fashion and creativity can be challenging in times like this but I find getting dressed to be therapeutic and I chose to cope by partaking in some self care. Blue Mini Dress
Our first outfit was what I wore to a photoshoot at the beginning of the week! I was celebrating my big 4 year blog anniversary on Friday so I worked with my girl Tiffany to get some incredible photographs to commemorate the milestone. I never would have expected myself to stick with Instagram and influencer marketing the way I have in the past 4 years. It’s been such a treat and I really wanted to do something big because year 4 was the first time I really felt like I did something with influencer work. It was the year I grew exponentially and cultivated a brand and audience that I am truly proud of. Truly I am just pinching myself that all of this worked out and this cute blue dress from Target really aided in that confidence.
Pro Tip: style your favorite casual dresses with a sleek sneaker. They are super popular these days and incredibly comfortable to wear. I personally have a pair from Veja that I love and they work well for dressy and casual outfits. Plus they’re great to wear for long periods of time since they are so comfortable.
Black Matching Set
Our second outfit was what I wore for my first day of mourning. I always love an all black look and this comfortable option from Amazon worked well for me. It’s actually a tee and a pair of shorts from separate sets but they are both from OQQ so they technically match. I’m really enjoying short black tees this spring and summer, they are super comfortable and they provide some coverage to the arms if you aren’t a tank person. Coming in black and white, I think they are a great wardrobe staple for anyone. To really add to the look, I paired my top with some ribbed shorts that make your bum look extra good. They’re on the short side too so they’d be great for working out or busy summer days when you don’t want to be completely covered up. To finish off the look, I added my tan sandals from Amazon. They are so comfortable and the only sandals that are actually squishy to the touch. I feel like I’m walking on clouds when I wear them, it’s great!
White and Grey Loungewear
Further into the week I had my first HydraFacial. It was such a relaxing experience and something I would recommend to anyone looking for some pampering. For this facial, I wanted to wear something comfortable since I would be laying still for awhile. I settled on this tank from Amazon that I absolutely adore and these lounge shorts I just purchased from Aerie. I got my bigger of two sizes so they could be a little baggy and that was certainly the right choice. Shorts like these are a summer must for me, I wear them all the time for travel or leisure. It also had a coordinating cropped crew neck that I also purchased if I got a bit cold. If there is a neutral matching set available, do know I will buy both pieces.
Pro Tip: when getting a facial, consider doing a simple braid or low ponytail. This keeps your hair out of your face while still being comfortable to lay on. I also recommend bringing shoes that are easy to take off. This is why I wore my platform clogs, they slid off easily and are comfortable enough to go with a lounge outfit. The best looks have a cohesive vibe and I think this outfit succeeds in that realm!
Pink Plisse Set
Let me put you on to the plisse matching set! I am obsessed with this fabric and the shorts version for summer is such a vibe in my opinion. I got my set from Amazon and I really like how big the top is alongside the high waisted shorts. I wore this look for errands since it was a simple outfit and kind of a no-brainer since everything goes together. Alongside the set I wore some platform sandals from Amazon and my go-to Gucci handbag. When wearing colorful outfits like this hot pink set, I like to keep my accessories simple with neutrals. If your outfit is warm toned, try a tan or brown neutral. If your outfit is cool toned, try a grey or silver neutral. This respect to color theory will make everything look cohesive and elevated even when you are basically wearing pajamas for the day!
Pro Tip: try the daytime pajama trend. I would consider this set in that category since it’s incredibly relaxed and soft in material. It looks like something you may wear at night but when styled with a casual shoe and layered accessories, you will look polished and professional to some level.
Road Trip Outfit Idea
Our final outfit of the week was my road trip outfit to get to my hometown. I wore my favorite activewear from Lululemon, a black tank and matching black biker shorts. Both are from their align line and are the softest workout pieces I own. This is the second summer in a row that I’ve worn my align set for travel and I don’t plan to stop anytime soon. It’s a cohesive look that is easy to layer and feels good for hours on end. To make the outfit a little more interesting, I layered a green sweatshirt over top and finished the look with my clogs.
Pro Tip: wear your biggest shoes on travel days! This will save so much room in your suitcase and make packing that much easier. I always wear my clogs on road trips since they are so chunky and great for water trips or girls weekends.
