Coastal Vacation Outfit Ideas

Midsize Friendly Beach Outfits

The first week of May was such a treat, I got to visit coastal WA with my dearest friends from my hometown! It was a trip to celebrate my best friends birthday and upcoming wedding and it was complete perfection. More content coming soon but wanted to start off with a few beach and travel friendly outfit ideas. I know going to the beach as a midsize woman can be challenging but it’s certainly doable with the proper attire. To see what I wore plus a few bonus looks, keep on reading!

Denim Midi Skirt Outfit

Our first look of the week was a fashion favorite of mine, a denim midi skirt look! This one is an Amazon find and kept me cool while working all afternoon and running some errands. To balance the voluminous nature of the skirt, I added my favorite high neck bodysuit from Abercrombie. Their new material is incredibly soft and goes well with any kind of denim. I also like how it’s a higher neck, it’s a beautiful contract to the high slit in the skirt. For a final touch, I added my platform sandals from Amazon that add a nod to the 90s without being too overpowering. Plus they are quite comfortable for the hot weather.

White Jean Outfit Idea

I know white jeans are hard to style but they are a neutral just like black denim. When temperatures start to rise, I start incorporating more white pieces into my wardrobe to stay cool. These jeans are no exception and with their baggier cut, they’re very on trend for 2023. In this look, I went pretty neutral and opted for a tan bodysuit and neutral shoe. I could have gone for something more colorful but I had some work things that day so classic cuts and colors were more appropriate. By the way, I can’t recommend this bodysuit enough. It’s an Amazon find akin to Skims. The material is super soft, easy to wear all day and holds you in without being constricting. Plus it comes in other colors besides the tan and I am a total fan.

Casual Road Trip Outfit

I told you it was travel season! I had a several hour road trip ahead of me so I opted for comfort over anything else. I also recommend wearing your chunkiest pieces when traveling which is why I wore my big clogs and sweatshirt for the car. I love the green shade of this sweatshirt, it’s akin to Free People but at a fraction of the price since it’s a boutique find. I also layered with Lululemon activewear that will always be comfortable. If you haven’t tried their Align line, you definitely need to. This outfit features the align tank and their leggings, both are travel essentials for me since the material is buttery while feeling like nothing for hours on end.

Artsy Beach Outfit

I will let you know now, this trip was my cool aunt era. I wanted to lean toward the artsy, eclectic beachwear and I think I accomplished the vibe. For the travel outfit, I went with my favorite Amazon tank layered under a multicolored swimsuit coverup. I used that piece as a duster since it was billowy and it added such a pop to the overall look. On the bottom, I went with my go-to boyfriend jeans that are a spring staple in my wardrobe. While they are a bit pricey, they are something I reach for year after year and they are incredibly versatile. To complete the outfit, I added my beloved clogs and felt cute yet confident the entire trip. There is truly nothing better than that feeling!

Coastal Cowgirl Outfit

On our first night at the beach, we had dinner plans in town so I wore my blue floral dress from a local boutique. The lightweight nature of the piece is so beachy and the print is perfect for springtime. To make it cowgirl approved, I added my favorite white cowboy boots. I got these from Amazon awhile ago and they are a personal favorite of mine. They go with so much and were honestly a mood on the beach itself. To complete the look and to stay a bit warm, I layered on my favorite top from Free People. It’s a beautiful waffle knit and the similar blue shades looked beautiful together. When going for the coastal grandmother, do not be afraid to layer oversized pieces together. Even as midsize women we can go for that effortless look and let me tell you it turns out adorable each time.

High Waisted Bikini

Our final look for the week was this dark brown high waisted bikini from Amazon. I love the rich color and the high waisted bottoms made me feel so cute and confident. Plus this swimsuit has a cheekier cut to the bum so it’s incredibly flattering and a bit sexy. Alongside the nice bottom of the swimsuit there is a great top that made my chest look amazing. It was very comfortable to wear and the back has a metal closure akin to a bra so it’s super easy to take on and off. I enjoy pieces like this for the hot tub or pool in particular because the garment doesn’t stick to you as much since it’s easy to peel off.

Have a Fashionable Trip

I hope these outfits inspire your next trip to the beach! Travel outfits can be hard to decide on so I hope this inspiration helps you out. Remember to keep things simple and the more neutrals you own, the easier it is to match everything! I also like to adjust my style to the surroundings so I really went with a lot of blue and green for my adventure.
