5 Midsize Friendly Valentine's Day Outfits

Valentine’s Day Outfits for Any Occasion

The season of love is HERE and I am so happy to finally say I am participating this year. I am so excited to spend the night with Matt and celebrate our love 💗 I’ve never had a Valentine until this year so it’s feeling extra special. With that comes a need to find a fun pink and red outfit! I always love those colors and as I start leaning more into maximalism, I’m noticing myself gravitate toward these bolder looks. To see what you should wear this year (with outfits that are midsize appropriate), keep reading!

Our first fit is great if you are going to any sort of sporting event! Think basketball game, hockey game or you just want to add some street style flair to your outfit, I would go with a look like this. I absolutely love this dress, I have it in 2 colors now and the red is just a great statement. A fitted dress like this too is ideal for date night and so romantic! I also really like it paired with this bomber jacket from Plato’s Closet in North Spokane. Finding unique secondhand pieces is one of my favorite hobbies as it elevates my personal style in a way that I haven’t done before.

Pro Tip: to make an outfit like this work, the key is to have balance. Think the tight dress against a big jacket. By juxtaposing two shapes in similar colors, you get an interesting outfit that doesn’t feel too immature and it’s a great way to wear the tight trend while also hiding places like your stomach or arms. Fashion as a midsize girl can be a game of camouflage and that is okay if you are working on your confidence!

Casual valentine

You asked for a casual Valentine’s Day outfit so you know I’m going to deliver! I have been obsessed with these track pants for months now and they are perfect for a relaxed night in. For those of you who may be staying in, cooking, watching movies, this outfit is perfection. I will always love a big ol’ sweater and this one from Free People has done me well over the years. I’ve had this for 5+ now and I bring it out every year because it’s so comfy and cozy.

The key to an outfit like this is matching the details. In the track pants, there is a line of pink that goes through the red which goes with the sweater perfectly. By looking at these little pieces in an outfit, you are suddenly elevated and it’s still nice for a holiday while still being relaxed. This makes the outfit easy to wear outside of the home too for coffee, chill dinners or adventures with friends!

Knit Valentine

One thing about me? I’m a sweater girl through and through. I love a big ol’ cozy knit and in the last few years I’ve really become a fan of sweaters with knit skirts or pants. In this case I’m sort of cheating because this is a knit dress but you get the same vibe! The reason this outfit works is again that balance between the oversized and fitted!

Pro Tip: When you find a good wardrobe staple like this dress, get it in a few colors! This is an Amazon find I swear by and I have it now in red and pink. I am considering buying a third color for an upcoming wedding it’s that good! If you don’t have a good staple feminine dress, this is your sign to snag one!

If you read this last year and noticed a similar outfit to this, I apologize. Sometimes your girl restyles classic combos!

Corporate baddie valentine’s

Since going freelance, my personal style has become so fun and funky! I love a good eclectic outfit that combines something elevated with something casual. Take this fun blouse from Anthropologie. It could be super elevated with a pair of trousers but I like it juxtaposed with a pair of jeans. It makes the outfit a bit more unexpected and interesting which is definitely my vibe. I enjoy dressing in a way that isn’t too preppy, professional and expected. Valentine’s Day is a great time to really express yourself because ideally if you’re with your person you should wear what you want! I love wearing the wackiest outfits around Matt, he doesn’t mind and it makes me feel beautiful!

dressed down pink

Our final outfit is what I wore to my early Valentine’s Day event last weekend! I rented this cutie dress from Nuuly and I loved dressing it down for dinner. I recommend a stretchy dress like this for going out, especially if you plan to eat a lot. It was great for our 4 course dinner (although I did spill 😭) because the outfit moved with me.

Pro Tip: when it comes to special occasions, I end up renting outfits for them instead of buying something new every time. As much as I love the pieces above, some days I just like a garment I can wear once and move on. For this I prefer Nuuly, they have the coolest outfits that connect to my current style plus I can try on 4, $500 dresses for under $100!

happy valentine’s day

I hope you have the most magnificent Valentine’s Day! Matt told me to bring an 8/10 fancy dress and brunch clothes for our Valentine plans 🥹 I have zero clue what we are doing and I cannot wait to celebrate! I may have also ordered more pieces from Nuuly for the adventure so be sure to follow on Instagram and TikTok to see what I wear!

Until next time,

Lauren
