Top 3 Jackets and Coats for Midsize Women
Best outerwear for midsize women
I don’t know about you but I live in a pretty snowy climate come wintertime! It can be quite the challenge to look stylish while staying warm and when you’re a midsize woman, it’s even more difficult because the more layers at times the bigger we can look and for many that is not the goal! Thus, I found my top 3 outerwear favorites for winter 2022/2023 so you can look and feel stylish.
Long Coat
My new fashion favorite this year is the long coat! I got this one from the boutique NanaMacs and I am absolutely obsessed. I have had a similar coat for a few years now and this winter is the first time I’ve actually worn it. Long, simplistic outerwear is definitely the vibe this year and it looks so chic over sweaters, sweatshirts, and denim. I have had a ton of fun layering my outerwear and pushing myself from hiding under a basic puffer. While those are great, it’s not quite as professional and fashionable.
Pro tip: in this case bigger is better! Do not be afraid of oversized pieces, especially when layering over fitted under layers like a basic tank and fitted pants. You really cannot go wrong.
Leather Jacket
My next outerwear must have is a good ol’ leather jacket. Depending on your personal budget and ethics you can get a real or faux option (mine is faux) and it will be a piece you reach for year after year I promise you. I’ve had my leather jacket for years now and I love styling it with everything from casual sweatshirts or nicer bodysuits and blouses. They add the perfect edge and elevation to any outfit and they add a bit of warmth without a ton of bulk. You really can’t go wrong with one!
Cropped Puffer Jacket
My third and final favorite piece this year is the cropped puffer jacket! I found this one at H&M and have been hooked on it since. It’s so comfortable for everyday wear and I love how easily you can dress it up or down depending on your accessories. Oftentimes I style it in a sporty way but you can easily make it nice with a leather trouser and fitted top. It’s another rather large item in the wardrobe but it will keep you warm. Again if you are worried about larger outerwear pieces, try something more fitted underneath. The balance will make the outfit interesting and may make you feel more comfortable in the overall look.
Happy Shopping
I hope these outfits inspire your snowy style! I know this time of year can be difficult for fashion, I have definitely struggled creatively in the winter deciding on outfits. Fortunately, now that I have all the time to create looks, I’ve started embracing a fun and creative winter wardrobe. For more up to date looks, be sure to follow me on Instagram and TikTok!
