5 Things I Learned From 2019
New Years Eve 2018
Going into 2019, I had 2 goals for myself. First, visit Montana. Second, get ahead in my career. I can proudly say that I accomplished both AND learned a lot about life in the same 12 months. Growing up, I’ve always been a goal-oriented person. Resolutions were never my thing, instead I always try and focus on a few things to improve my life in some way or another. With my first goal, I got myself one step closer to visiting all 50 states. I have been meaning to visit Montana since I knew I was moving to Eastern Washington. Missoula wasn’t too far of a drive and you can read all about my trip here! As for getting ahead in my career, I got my first internship AND I started this blog!! I also worked my tailbone off at Nordstrom and should be heading back this summer 💕
What I Learned
Through these exciting goals, I also had the chance to learn some life lessons. Let’s take a look…
Message that person! You never know who might change your life if you never reach out and talk to new people. This can also be people you haven’t talked to in awhile! I would not be where I am today without messaging some old friends earlier this year. Sometimes it’s the smallest decisions that make the biggest impact on our lives.
It’s okay to let people back in! Over the summer and into the fall, old friends I hadn’t talked to in years reached out to me. Sometimes it can be scary to bring these people back into our lives but people can change. I’m still not super close with these people today, but I feel so happy to be on better terms with them. I 100% believe if people are meant to be in your life, they will come back and 2019 is a good reminder of this! People grow up and we can’t trap people into their old selves. I know I’ve matured and I wouldn’t want to be seen as my younger self!
Old people activities are fun! Toward the end of my Junior year, I started to go to Thursday night trivia with my friends. This year, I made it a priority to go just about every week with my friends Chloe, Caroline, Sam and John 💖While some people think it’s an old person activity, I think it’s the best! I love getting competitive (even though we always lose) and trying to figure out the answers. Plus, it’s been a great way to make new friends!!
Start something new! For awhile now, people have asked me what to wear for different occasions. I was also getting lots of questions to borrow my clothes for just about any situation you can think of 😂As the questions kept coming in, I started to think, “hmmm, I should start a fashion page!” I’ve always enjoyed social media and I thought maybe I COULD have a blog. So, in May, I created my fashion account on Instagram and it just blew up from there! I cannot believe how big it’s become since the Spring… I have almost a thousand followers and I have started to work with brands!!! I can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for TT…
Try things that scare you! Alongside my fashion blog, I also felt the drive to start my own business! After my internship, I thought my best next step would be to get my business license and I did last week!!! I can fill you in more come January but I’m excited to take my lessons in blogging into the business world 😍While I’m scared to be a business owner, I can’t wait to see what happens in the new year!
2020 Goals
For this new year, I have some exciting goals! First, I want to graduate Cum Laude from Gonzaga University with my degree in Communications studies. May 10th I’m coming for ya!! Next, I want to get at least 3 clients! I can’t wait to see who they will be ☺️ Then, I would like to grow my blog and Instagram into a functioning little business 🤯 We have grown so much in the last 7 months, let’s keep it up! Also, I want to get out more and date a little. I haven’t had a boyfriend in 2.5 years.. I’m ready for a man 🤣 Finally, I want to travel more. I hope to hit 2-3 new states in 2020 and work on my goal of visiting all 50!!
See you in 2020!
