Beginners Guide to Friendsgiving

Ah yes, Friendsgiving! The night you bring your buddies together for drinks, food, and fun. This year, I am hosting my first-ever Friendsgiving and I am both excited and nervous 😅We are hosting around 8 of us and I’ve quickly gleaned some tips and tricks for the dinner! Keep reading to host the perfect Friendsgiving this year!

STEP ONE:

Send out a group text! I invited my friends a few weeks ahead of the event. In the initial message, I let everyone know where the dinner would be, what time dinner would be, and to let me know what they were bringing!! For us college students, food is expensive so turn this meal into a potluck. By inviting people to bring a favorite dish, you will quickly know who is coming AND you aren’t stuck footing the entire bill.

STEP TWO:

Decide what the heck you need!! I am a huge Trader Joe’s fan and I live for the frequent flier newsletter. I scanned the latest edition to glean some cooking inspiration and found some items that would help my friends! Once I knew what I wanted, I went onto my phone and wrote out lists on my Reminders app (I love it because I can check off my items while I’m shopping). This way, when I am out at the store I know exactly what I need.

STEP THREE:

Go shopping!! Get everything you need and don’t forget items like aluminum trays and lots of paper plates! Another pro tip- pick up a turkey breast instead of the whole bird. It’ll be far easier to cook and you don’t need to worry about any body cavities 😂

STEP FOUR:

Give yourself time to cook! I plan on spending all afternoon cleaning and preparing my food so everyone leaves full. By planning ahead and giving yourself plenty of room to prepare, you won’t be as stressed and you can enjoy the dinner with your buddies. Remember, the bests events are the ones you think about far in advance!

STEP FIVE:

Have fun! You have the opportunity to spend time with your friends before the holidays, how special is that?? Don’t forget to relax and enjoy your time with everyone. These are the holiday memories you will treasure forever!

As to my event, stay tuned on my Instagram to see how the food turned out! I will be storying all day. Until then!

XOXO,

Lauren
