How to Save Money in Las Vegas

This weekend, I head off to Vegas!! As a college student, I am trying to have as much fun as possible while also sticking to a budget. I know that travel can quickly get expensive, so I recommend saving on as much as possible! My biggest savers are food, adventures, and transportation. You still need to have fun and I think you should set aside some money for memories (I’ll have those at the end), but you also shouldn’t break the bank on vacation 😜

Food

  • Pack your own snacks! I like to bring granola bars, 99 cent iced tea, and small treats for the morning or midday. It can get very expensive eating out all day long, so try to buy several bars at a store at home!

  • In and Out is your friend!! I absolutely love their burgers and their price-point is so inexpensive! I tend to go there for lunch and honestly, burgers are a cute photo spot so it’s a two in one!

  • TACO BELL CANTINA! While the drinks can get expensive, they still have their combos which are a steal and nothing beats Taco Bell. I recommend the Baja Blast with Vodka if you are 21+ 😋

  • Chipotle is a going out game changer! I love filling up on a burrito before heading out on the town. If you don’t end up eating everything, you have a bonus late night snack to keep you going into the next day.

  • Eat off the strip when you can! My friend Patrick recommends traveling a short distance to save on meals. Food outside of the popular hubs are a far cheaper option to hotel food!

  • Split a dinner with friends! Honestly, at a lot of restaurants the portions are huge so why not share?? This was you pay half the price AND you don’t get sick.

    • This would be best at Hash House a Go Go! That place is amazing and with their huge portions, you don’t have to worry about eating too much.

Drinks

  • As soon as you land, pop into Liquor World on Tropicana. I was FLOORED by how inexpensive their liquor was. They had a great deal going on when we went last year and our Uber driver recommended the place so you know its good. I recommend one or two bottles for pregames with friends and just split everything!

  • DON’T WASTE MONEY ON STRIP DRINKS!!!! The frozen drinks are a total waste of money and are so watered down that they just aren’t worth it. I never even finished a drink, so don’t bother. Just wait till you get to the hotel or the clubs!

  • For all my ladies; if you are comfortable, try working with promoters to get free drinks at the clubs! There are a million on the strip and they are more than happy to get you into VIP! This means free drinks 😝We did this last year at Hakkasan and I honestly had the best time!!

    Adventures

  • While you are there, take advantage of wandering through the various hotels!! We typically stay at the Mirage which is close to the Bellagio, Venetian, and more!!! No joke walking shoes will be your best friend during the day. If you are into gambling, I recommend popping into a casino and trying your luck! I did pretty good last year, just as long as you remember to only bet small amounts 🍀

  • Try out Top Golf or another activity with friends!! Golfing is waaay cheaper with a group; use the time to be social and have fun! I went last year and while I was HORRIBLE, I still had a blast.

  • Visit the M&M store or other fun shops! Again these places are totally free and they have the coolest activities/photo ops. As I have started this blogging journey, I have learned of the importance of locations! Try and utilize IG to find fun spots to get the coolest pictures.

  • Wanter through the malls. For my fellow shopaholics, this is honestly so fun. There is everything from Gucci to Forever 21 in Vegas, it’s really just a matter of what you are in the market for! I loved wandering through the designer shops last year and just getting inspired by the beautiful pieces. Not to say that you should buy something necessarily, it’s just a fun activity during the day!

  • Utilize the pools!! I love sitting poolside and just soaking up the sun. My first time in Vegas I got BURNT and totally forgot to reapply sunscreen. Please don’t be like me. Bring sunscreen and do take care of your skin! But also get all those fun poolside pics, I absolutely love mine and have a blast “modeling” my swimsuits!

Past Vegas Adventures

Well, I hope you have an incredible trip to Vegas!! I cannot wait for my own trip this weekend ❤️ Stay tuned for the final part of my series where I show you what we did and share my vacation looks/experiences!

XOXO,

Lauren
